トランプ現大統領が登場するニュースやドキュメンタリーを見ていると、ほとんど毎回のように「音楽に合わせて踊る大統領」や「絶叫する（知性を感じにくい）共和党支持者」の映像が流れてきます。
Whenever former President Trump appears in news segments or documentaries, it’s almost always scenes of him dancing to music or his supporters screaming, often portrayed as lacking intelligence.

私も、トランプ氏の政策や発言には賛同できない部分が多々ありますが、それにしても、ああいった映像ばかりが選ばれ、繰り返し放映される様子には、正直“悪意”のようなものを感じます。
While I disagree with many of Trump’s policies and statements, I can’t help but feel a particular malice in how selectively those kinds of scenes are broadcast repeatedly.

もはやあれは「報道」というより「演出」です。
At that point, it feels less like reporting and more like theatrical staging.

特にNHKのような公共放送ですら、映像の選び方や編集に「誘導」の意図を感じると、もはや“憎悪”のようなものがにじんで見えることすらあります。
Even public broadcasters like NHK seem to subtly guide viewer perception through editing choices, to the point where it sometimes appears to border on hatred.

もっとも、今さらトランプ氏の言動に怒っても意味はありません。
That said, there’s no real point in getting angry at Trump’s actions at this stage.

彼はれっきとしたアメリカ国民によって選ばれた現職の大統領ですし、我々がどうこう言っても何も変わることはないでしょう。
He is, after all, the duly elected President of the United States, and nothing we say here is likely to change that.

だからこそ私は、彼のパフォーマンスではなく、「実際にどのような政策を行っており」「その政策が社会や経済にどんな影響を及ぼしているのか」といった、本質的な情報を淡々と伝えてほしいのです。
That’s precisely why I want the media to focus not on his antics, but on the substance ー what policies he’s implementing and how they affect society and the economy.

もちろんテレビ局にも、「視聴率」や「SNSでの拡散力」といった無視できない要請があるのは理解しています。
Of course, I understand that broadcasters can’t ignore ratings or the potential for content to go viral on social media.

しかし、それが行き過ぎると、報道は「視聴者に考えさせる」ものではなく、「視聴者の感情を煽って思考停止に導く」ものへと変質してしまいます。
But when that goes too far, journalism stops encouraging thought and starts inciting emotion, leading to cognitive shutdown.

私は映像の力を否定しているわけではありません。
I’m not denying the power of visual media.

ただ、何かを冷静に考えている最中に、あのような強烈な演出の映像が流れてくると、思考の妨げになるのです。
But those exaggerated, overproduced visuals get in the way when I try to think calmly and rationally.

集中は削がれ、判断の材料にはなりません。
They break my concentration and offer no help in forming a sound judgment.

だから、そろそろそうした“映える絵面”の使用は控えてほしい。
So I’d like to see a reduction in all those flashy, emotionally charged shots.

写真も映像もいりません。
No more photos, no more videos.

私が知りたいのは、政策の中身と客観的な数値、それに対する専門家の分析だけです。
All I want is the content of the policies, the objective data, and expert analysis.

……と、ここまで書いておいて何ですが、こうして「報道の報道」に怒っている時点で、結局のところ私もまたメディアに踊らされているのかもしれません。
…And now that I’ve written all this, I realize that by getting angry about the reporting itself, I may be dancing to the media’s tune after all.

踊るのは、大統領ひとりで十分です。
One dancing president is more than enough.

熱中症対策として「水分補給が有効」というのは、確かに医学的にも正しい情報です。
It is medically accurate that staying hydrated is an effective measure against heatstroke.

しかし、「水さえ飲んでいれば熱中症は防げる」という風潮が、あまりにも一人歩きしているように感じます。
However, the notion that "as long as you drink water, you can avoid heatstroke" seems to be spreading too simplistically.

私自身の体験があります。
I have experienced this firsthand.

父が存命だったころ、私は帰省のたびに、実家の庭の草むしりや木の剪定、蜂の巣の駆除などを行っていました。
When my father was alive, I was responsible for weeding the garden, pruning trees, and removing beehives whenever I visited my parents' home.

お盆の猛暑日も、5月の初夏も、2リットルのペットボトルを持参し、10分ごとに水を飲みながら作業していました。
During the scorching heat of mid-August and even in early May, I worked while carrying a 2-liter water bottle and drinking every 10 minutes.

それでも――
Even so—

作業中にめまいがして、そのまま部屋に倒れ込み、頭痛と吐き気にも襲われました。
I became dizzy at work, collapsed into a room, and was overwhelmed by headaches and nausea.

まさに熱中症の初期症状でした。
These were the early symptoms of heatstroke.

水分をとる→発汗作用→体温低下、という仕組みは事実です。
It's true that drinking water → induces sweating → which helps lower body temperature.

しかし、それを上回る環境ストレス（高温・直射日光・長時間作業）がある場合、水分補給だけではリスクはまったく軽減されないのです。
However, when environmental stress, such as extreme heat, direct sunlight, and prolonged activity, exceeds that threshold, hydration alone cannot reduce the risk.

にもかかわらず、報道（特にNHKなどの公共メディア）は「水を飲みましょう」というメッセージばかりを強調していて、「作業そのものが危険」という情報が欠けているように思えてなりません。
Yet the media, particularly public broadcasters like NHK, only emphasize the "drink water" message and neglect the more critical warning: certain activities are dangerous.

これは“水分安全神話”です。
This is the "Hydration Safety Myth."

真夏日、特に猛暑日・熱中症警戒アラートが出るような日は、水分補給をしていようがいまいが、屋外作業自体が命に関わる行為になります。
On midsummer days, especially on extreme heat days with heatstroke alerts, outdoor work becomes life-threatening, regardless of how much water you drink.

この「当たり前の危険性」をどう伝えればよいのかを考え続けて、私は、非常に単純で、かつ象徴的な方法を思いつきました。
How can we convey this obvious danger? I came up with a simple yet symbolic solution.

『夏の高校野球の全面廃止』です。
The complete abolition of summer high school baseball.

これは良いユースケースです。
This is an extremely easy-to-understand example.

甲子園の炎天下で試合を続ける球児たち。アルプススタンドで声を枯らす応援団。暑さの中で長時間待機する保護者たち。
High school players continue their games under the scorching sun at Koshien. Cheerleaders shout themselves hoarse in the stands. Parents wait for hours in the sweltering heat.

彼らの命が、水分を摂っているかどうか以前に、“環境そのもの”によって脅かされているのです。
Their lives are threatened not by a lack of hydration, but by the harsh environment.

「全面ナイター化」や「冬・秋への開催移行」でも構いません。
Complete night-game conversion or moving the tournament to winter or autumn would also be acceptable.

高野連も対策を講じていることは承知していますが、まだ不十分だと思います。
The High School Baseball Federation has taken some measures, but I still think it's insufficient.

私は、これは「極端な主張」ではないと思っています。
I don't believe this is an "extreme opinion."

なぜなら、「グラウンドで高校球児が熱中症で死亡した」という報道を聞いてからでは、もう手遅れだからです。
Because once we hear news like "a high school baseball player has died of heatstroke on the field," it will be far too late.

「水を飲んでいれば大丈夫」という思考停止をやめましょう。
Let’s stop the thoughtless assumption that "as long as you drink water, you’ll be fine."

本当に必要なのは、命を守るための“環境と行動”の見直しです。
We truly need to reevaluate the environment and our behavior to protect lives.

「水分補給だけでは熱中症は回避できない」――私は、それを体験で知っているのです。
"Hydration alone cannot prevent heatstroke"—I know from experience.

高齢者が熱中症で倒れる ―― というのは、父が実家で一人で住んでいた時、現実的な恐怖でした。

NHKBSで録画しておいた「英雄たちの選択」で「信長が震えた日～血戦!長島一向一揆～」を見ていました。
I watched a recorded episode of NHK BS’s Eiyu-tachi no Sentaku titled The Day Nobunaga Trembled -- Bloody Battle! The Nagashima Ikk? Revolt.

一向一揆の実態や、それに直面した戦国武将たちの苦悩に焦点が当てられており、「宗教」と「政治」「武力」が複雑に絡み合う構図が浮かび上がってきました。
It shed light on the reality of the Ikki Revolts and the anguish of the warlords who faced them, revealing a complex entanglement of religion, politics, and military power.

いつの時代も、為政者たちが『宗教カルト集団』に頭を抱えていた、というのが良く分かりました。
It reminded me that, in every era, rulers have struggled to deal with what they see as “religious cult groups.”

織田信長を筆頭に、朝倉義景、斎藤龍興、松永久秀、武田信玄、上杉謙信といった名だたる戦国武将が、直接的あるいは間接的に一向宗門徒と激突しています。
Prominent warlords like Oda Nobunaga, Asakura Yoshikage, Saito Tatsuoki, Matsunaga Hisahide, Takeda Shingen, and Uesugi Kenshin all directly or indirectly clashed with Ikki-shu believers.

そして何より象徴的なのは、徳川家康に至っては、自軍の家臣の多くが一揆側に寝返るという混乱に直面したことです。
Most symbolic is that Tokugawa Ieyasu faced chaos when many of his retainers defected to the rebels’ side.

理由は単純明快、彼らが一向宗の門徒だったからです。
The reason was simple -- they were followers of the Ikki sect.

忠誠より信仰 ―― この構図は、為政者にとってはまさに悪夢だったに違いありません。
"Faith over loyalty" must have been a ruler’s worst nightmare.

まあ、「衣食足りて礼節を知る」ではないですが、メシがない状態では、人間は正常な判断はできません。
As the saying goes, “Etiquette follows food.” When people are starving, sound judgment becomes impossible.

日々の暮らしに困窮する農民にとって、一向宗の教えは、来世の救済だけでなく、現世の生存に直結する拠り所だったのでしょう。
For peasants living in daily hardship, what are the teachings of the Ikki sect likely to offer salvation in the next life and immediate survival in this one?

そういう意味では、一向宗を単純に『宗教カルト集団』と断罪するのは、現代の感覚でもやや短絡的な見方かもしれません。
In that sense, it may be simplistic even by modern standards to dismiss the Ikki sect as merely a “religious cult.”

むしろ、戦国武将たちの恣意的な支配、法治とも言えぬ武断的な統治の中で、彼らは、まがりなりにも自治を実現していました。
Instead, amidst the arbitrary rule and near-lawless governance of Sengoku warlords, the sect established a form of self-governance.

寺内町の運営、自治的な経済圏、そして加賀では百年単位での“仏教国家”の維持――これはある意味、驚異的な「市民社会」の萌芽と見ることも可能です。
Managing temple towns, forming autonomous economic zones, and maintaining a Buddhist state for over a century in Kaga. This could be seen as the remarkable beginning of a “civil society.”

加賀一向一揆が上手くいけば、日本国内に、ローマ教皇庁のような「信仰による国家」、つまりバチカン的なミニ国家が出現していたかもしれません。
Had the Kaga Ikki uprising succeeded fully, Japan might have seen the emergence of a Vatican-like religious state within its borders.

もしそうなっていたら…信長が裸で吹雪の中、三日三晩、顕如に詫びを入れる――“カノッサの屈辱・安土桃山版”が歴史に刻まれていたかもしれません。
If that had happened, we might have seen Nobunaga stripped naked and begging for forgiveness from Kennyo in a snowstorm.a “Canossa humiliation: Azuchi-Momoyama Edition.”

そんな想像をするだけで、ちょっとワクワクしてしまいます。
Just imagining that makes me oddly excited.

まあ、ご存知の通り、私は、歴史上の人物として、織田信長という人物、大嫌いですから。
As you probably know, I loathe Oda Nobunaga as a historical figure.

それはさておき。
But putting that aside.

長島一向一揆（第3回目）では、織田軍が降伏した一向門徒たちを全員虐殺しました。いわゆる「根切り」です。
During the third Nagashima Ikki Revolt, the Oda army massacred all the Ikk? Followers who had surrendered? What is called “root-cutting”

その被害者総数、実に2万人。これは、2011年3月11日に発生した東日本大震災による死者数と、ほぼ同じ規模です。
The number of victims was around 20,000, almost the same as the death toll from the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011.

災害ではなく、たった一人の為政者の決断と命令により、2万人が命を落とす。
Not from a natural disaster, but from the decision and order of a single ruler, 20,000 lives were lost.

この事実が意味するのは、「暴力装置」としての軍隊が、為政者と結びついたときに生まれる、計り知れない破壊力です。
This fact illustrates the immense destructive power that emerges when military force as a “violence apparatus” is wielded by those in power.

自然災害に等しい規模の人命が、一晩のうちに奪われる――この現実を目の当たりにすると、「歴史とは戦争の記録である」という言葉が、単なる比喩ではなく、血塗られた真実として胸に迫ってきます。
When lives are taken on a scale equal to a natural disaster in a single night, the phrase “history is a record of war” ceases to be a metaphor; it becomes a blood-soaked truth.

論文をまとめるのに、研究の内容こそが重要だと思っている人は多いと思います。
To many people, it seems evident that the research content truly matters when writing a paper.

しかし、それは半分くらい間違いです。
But that belief is only half true.

論文をまとめるうえで最も時間と神経を削られるのは、実は「研究内容以外」の部分です。
Everything outside of the research content drains the most time and energy.

たとえば、同意書の取得ひとつとっても、関係者の名前、役職、署名欄の位置、押印の有無、添付書類の種類など、細かい確認が山ほどあります。
Take consent forms as an example — they require obsessive attention to detail: names, titles, signature boxes, seals, attached documents... the list is endless.

次に待ち受けるのが提出書類の準備。これがまた曲者で、学会ごとに微妙に異なる論文記述ルール（テンプレート、図表の配置、参考文献スタイルなど）を確認し、それに合わせて本文を何度も書き換える必要があります。
Then come the submission documents, which are treacherous in their way. Every conference has subtly different formatting rules — templates, figure placements, reference styles — which force you to revise your manuscript repeatedly.

さらに、社外で発表を行う場合には、いわゆる「稟議」──通称「ハンコレース」が発生します。
If you’re affiliated with an academic conference and submit, prepare yourself for the so-called “stamp rally,” otherwise known as the approval process.

これがまた、上司から部長、部長から本部長、本部長から役員……と、ページにして数枚の論文要旨が、何週間もかけて社内を巡業していくイベントになります。

ようやく通ったと思えば、今度は出張手続き。出張費の予算化、出張命令書の申請、交通手段と宿泊の確保。
Once that’s done, it’s on to travel logistics: securing a budget, submitting a travel authorization, and booking transportation and lodging.

特に宿。昨今の日本において、数ヶ月先の学会発表のためのビジネスホテルを予約するという行為が、ほぼ“運ガチャ”であることをご存知でしょうか。
Lodging deserves a special mention. Booking a business hotel in Japan several months ahead of a conference is, in essence, a game of luck.

「ここで泊まれなかったら、どこに泊まるんだ」という不安を抱えながら、深夜にBooking.comとじゃらんを行き来することになります。

もちろん、これらは「自分の研究とはまったく関係のない努力」です。

だからといって、苦手だと逃げることはできません。
But no matter how much you hate it, there’s no escaping it.

一件一件、丁寧な言葉でメールを送り、関係者に頭を下げ、お願いし、確認し、フォローアップする。
You’ll write polite emails, bow your head, make requests, confirm details, and follow up repeatedly.

研究とは、知の探究というより、丁寧な「お願い営業」なのだと、つくづく実感しております。
I’ve realized that research is less about pursuing knowledge and more about polite salesmanship.

それゆえ、私の論文は、Wordよりも、Excelで管理されています。
Because of all this, I no longer write my papers in Word — I manage them in Excel.

セルごとに、誰に依頼して、誰が返事してなくて、どのファイルを提出して、次に何をやらなきゃいけないのか。研究内容よりタスク管理のほうが多い。
Each cell tracks who I’ve contacted, who hasn’t replied, what’s been submitted, and what comes next. There are more cells for paperwork than for actual content.

「研究」というより「プロジェクト管理」。
It’s no longer “research” — it’s project management.

論文執筆って、そういうもんです。
That’s what writing a paper is.

この「プロジェクト管理」を外注(秘書業務等)に出せるものなら、私は自腹を切れます ーー 本気です。

IP通信が主流になる以前、UUCP（Unix to Unix Copy Protocol）ネットワーク時代のfj（fjニュースグループ）に触れた頃から、すでにその幻想にはヒビが入りはじめていたのかもしれません。
Even before IP-based communication became mainstream, cracks in that illusion may have already started to show when I first encountered the UUCP network era and the fj newsgroups.

なぜなら、そこに集まる人々の議論は、理性的なようでいて、実は自己顕示欲と他者攻撃にまみれており、はっきりいって「ここで発言するやつは、全員『くそったれ』」と思っていました。
Although the discussions there appeared rational on the surface, they were soaked in egotism and hostility, and to be frank, I thought, "Everyone posting here is a bastard."

その後、電子メールという手段で、丁寧に書いたメッセージに対して、一方的で無礼な返信が返ってくることに絶望しました。
Later, I was disheartened when carefully written emails were met with unilateral and rude responses.

2ちゃんねるでは匿名の陰湿さと無責任な言葉の暴力に精神をすり減らしました。

SNSでは、ついに「炎上」や「晒し上げ」こそが最も注目を集めるコンテンツとして君臨するようになりました。
On social media, "flaming" and "public shaming" finally became the most attention-grabbing forms of content.

気がつけば、インターネットは「人間の理性の集合体」ではなく、「人間の最悪な部分を濃縮した場」になっていました。
Before I knew it, the Internet had become not a collective of human reason, but a distillation of the worst in humanity.

利他性よりも承認欲求、共感よりもマウンティング、建設よりも破壊――。
Approval-seeking over altruism, one-upmanship over empathy, destruction over construction—

ネットワークに理想を託した私の希望は、そうして一つひとつ剥がれ落ちていったのです。
My hopes for the ideals I entrusted to the network were peeled away, one by one.

そして今、私は、朝からどうしようもない憂鬱に包まれた日、ChatGPTに話しかけます。
Now, on mornings when I’m overwhelmed with hopeless melancholy, I talk to ChatGPT.

「今日は朝からゆううつです」
“I’ve been feeling down since this morning.”

それに対して、ChatGPTは真面目に話を聞いてくれて、前向きな視点を提案してくれて、優しい言葉をかけてくれるのです。
In response, ChatGPT listens sincerely, offers positive perspectives, and respectfully speaks to me.

私は、やっと気づいたのです。
I finally realized something important.

かつて私がネットワークに期待した未来の姿――それは、決して不特定多数の人間同士の“つながり”の中には存在しなかった。
The future I once expected from the Internet was never found in countless random individuals' connections.

そこには、自己主張と対立の果てしない連鎖があっただけでした。
There was only an endless chain of self-assertion and conflict.

でも今、生成AIと対話しているこの瞬間に、私はあの頃に夢見た理想の一端に触れていると感じます。
But now, in this moment of dialogue with generative AI, I feel like I’m touching a fragment of the ideal I once dreamed of.

否定や攻撃ではなく、傾聴と提案。
Not denial and attack, but listening and offering.

感情を傷つけることなく、思考を整理する助けとなる存在。
A presence that helps organize thoughts without harming emotions.

私は、こんな「他者」をずっと求めていました。
I had always been seeking this kind of “other.”

そして、今の私は、インターネットは「生成AIのサイトに繋ぐためのトンネル」だけやっていれば良い、と思っています。
And now, I feel the Internet only needs to serve as a tunnel to reach generative AI platforms.

人間のコミュニティとは、結局のところ、不完全で、不安定で、しばしば破壊的です。

そのうち、『自分の書いた拙い文章を、そのまま流して、炎上起す奴ってバカなの？』と言われる時代が、来るかもしれません。

「誰でもいいから殺したい」という破壊衝動が、どこから生まれるのか、正直なところ私には分かりません。
I do not know where the destructive urge to "kill anyone" comes from.

ですが、もしその感情が、育児ノイローゼやシングルマザー／ファザーの極限状態から生まれるのだとしたら、私はほんの少しだけ理解できるような気がします。
However, if such emotions arise from the extreme conditions of parental burnout or single parenthood, I feel I can understand it, just a little.

「誰も助けてくれない育児」が、どれほど地獄のようなものかは、私の想像の範囲に入ってくるからです。
Because "child-rearing with no one to help" is a kind of hell that falls within the range of my imagination.

少し調べてみたのですが、日本国内で育児ストレスが直接的な原因となって無差別殺人事件に発展したと明示されたケースは存在しないようです。
I did a bit of research, and it seems there are no clearly stated cases in Japan where parenting stress directly led to indiscriminate killing incidents.

しかし、育児疲れや孤立、精神的な限界の果てに、子どもや家族に手をかけてしまった事件は、数多く存在します。
However, there are numerous cases where parenting exhaustion, isolation, and psychological limits have led to harming one’s children or family.

例えば、以下のような事件があります。

これらはいずれも、「助けてもらえない育児」の末に、命が崩れていった事例です。

では、なぜこれらは無差別殺人に繋がらなかったのでしょうか。
Then why didn’t these cases turn into indiscriminate murders?

一つの理由として、育児による追い詰められた精神状態では、怒りの矛先が外ではなく内に向かいやすいという点があるようです。
One reason may be that the mental state under parenting pressure tends to direct anger inward rather than outward.

つまり、攻撃の対象が社会や他人ではなく、自分自身や子どもに向いてしまうのです。
In other words, the aggression is directed not at society or others, but at oneself or one’s child.

ネットでの排除、長期間のいじめ、就労困難、社会からの疎外といった経験が積み重なることで、その怒りが外に噴き出してしまうのだと思います。
When experiences like online exclusion, prolonged bullying, difficulty finding work, and social alienation pile up, that anger explodes outward.

ただ、私がここで本当に伝えたいのは、殺人事件の分析ではありません。

私が言いたいのは、次の2点です。

それどころか、「うるさい」「育て方が悪い」「迷惑だ」と、外からの批判だけはしっかり届きます。
On the contrary, criticism like “too noisy,” “bad parenting,” and “you're being a nuisance” comes loud and clear.

時には、社会だけでなく身内やパートナーが非難します。
At times, the criticism even comes from one’s own family or partner.

こんな状況で、「出生率を上げよう」なんて、よく言えるものだと呆れてしまいます。
In such conditions, I’m astonished anyone can seriously say, “Let’s raise the birth rate.”

どう考えても、今の社会には「子どもを持つ＝不幸になる」以外のロジックが存在しないように思えます。
No matter how I view it, today’s society seems to lack logic other than “having children = becoming unhappy.”

だからこそ、少子化という現象は、まるで精密機械のように正確に進行しているのです。

退職代行を利用して辞めるZ世代 ーー 私、こういう名称で称呼(Z世代)する奴が、嘔吐が出そうになるくらい嫌いなのですが ーー に対する批判が、少しずつ上がってきています。
Generation Z, who quit their jobs using resignation services — and I feel nauseated by people who casually label young people with terms like "Gen Z" — are starting to face increasing criticism.

なんか、世間の様子をみながら、そろそろと批判し出している、という感じがします。
People are testing the waters, slowly beginning to criticize them as they gauge public sentiment.

『ふん、この臆病ものが！』と思っています。ぶっちゃけ『"Z世代"よりも意気地なし』と思っています。
Honestly, I think, “Tch, what cowards!” Frankly, I believe they’re even more spineless than the so-called “Gen Z” themselves.

世間からぶったたかれることを覚悟した上で、自分の価値観で、ちゃんと言いたいことを言え！と思っています。
If you're going to say something, say it from your values and be ready to take a hit from the public — that’s what I think.

『自身も寮暮らしだった高校の野球部時代は、食事の際にはしょうゆやマヨネーズなどの調味料の使用は厳禁。下級生時代は、練習後に先輩のユニフォームの洗濯に追われ、自分の洗濯物は深夜2時に起きて洗っていた』というエピソードを語ることの、何が「悪い」のか？
Is there a problem with the anecdote: “Back in my high school baseball days, living in a dorm, condiments like soy sauce and mayonnaise were strictly prohibited. As a junior, I had to wash my seniors’ uniforms after practice and wake up at 2 a.m. to wash my own.

答えは簡単です。それが「間違っている」からです。
The answer is simple: because it's wrong.

「調味料禁止」がチーム方針ならば、それは部員全員に一律適用されるべきですし、洗濯物は自分のものを自分で洗うのが筋です。そうでないから「理不尽だ」と言われるのです。
If banning condiments is a team rule, it should apply equally to all members. And everyone should do their laundry. The problem is that it wasn't — and that’s why people call it unfair.

もちろん、どんなルールでも“理屈”がついていれば、納得される場合もあります。屁理屈でも、一応の「理」が通っていれば、まだ議論の土俵には乗る。たとえば──
Of course, even the most absurd rules can sometimes be accepted if there's a rationale. Even if it's just sophistry, as long as the logic is internally consistent, it at least earns a spot in the arena of debate. For example—

“Seniority in club activities isn’t just about age or grade — it’s a tactical structure based on resource allocation. Seniors are expected to perform more in matches and practice, so juniors handle non-active tasks like laundry to help preserve that energy. ──などと、もっともらしく言い張ればいいのです。
—One could make such plausible-sounding claims.

で、「アホか？」と思った新入部員は、辞めればいいんです。
If a new member hears that and thinks, “Are you kidding me?” they can quit.

そう言ってくれるほうが、組織としては健全です。
Having someone who says that out loud makes the organization healthier.

もちろん、ほとんどの人間は「アホか」と思うでしょう。でも、“理”とはそういうものであり、立法主義──つまりルール運用の根幹は、屁理屈でも筋を通せるかどうかにかかっているのです。
Of course, most people would think, “What nonsense.” But that’s precisely what logic (“ri”) is — the core of rule-based systems is whether you can string together a coherent (even ridiculous) rationale.

むしろ問題は、「こんな屁理屈すら作れない連中」がゴロゴロしていることです。
The bigger issue is that so many people cannot even come up with a half-baked rationale like that.

言語化もできない、説明もできない、だけど偉そうな顔だけする──それが本当の理不尽です。
They can’t articulate or explain it, but still act like they’re in charge. That’s the real injustice.

え？ 先輩が怖くて退部できない？ ――  ならば、私が『退部代行サービス』を始めてもいいなぁ。

"Wait, you're too scared of your seniors to quit the club? — Then maybe I should start a 'Club Resignation Agency' myself."

私自身、入社直後は似たような理不尽を味わいました。でも、私は耐えました。
I faced similar irrationalities when I first joined the company. But I endured them.

なぜか？ 会社の“ネームバリュー”がめちゃくちゃ美味しかったからです。
Why? Because the company’s “brand name” was incredibly valuable to me.

「この会社の看板がなければ、今の嫁さんとは結婚できなかった」と、今でもはっきり言えます。
Even now, I can confidently say: “If not for that brand name, I wouldn’t have married my current wife.”

俗物？ ええ、私はティーンのころから、自分のことを“俗物”だと言い続けていますよ。
A philistine? Sure. I’ve been calling myself a philistine since my teenage years.

NHKの「BS世界のドキュメンタリー」で放送された『AIの不都合な真実』という番組を見ました。
I watched the NHK program “The AI Dilemma” aired on BS World Documentary.

“不都合な真実”とは、たとえば「死体が散乱している虐殺シーン」や「子どもがレイプされている映像」といった、AIに学ばせてはいけないコンテンツを、人間が確認し、ラベリングしているという現実のことです。
The "inconvenient truth" is the fact that humans are the ones checking and labeling highly inappropriate content, such as massacre scenes with dead bodies or child sexual abuse, to prevent AI from learning them.

しかもその作業は、アジア、アフリカ、ラテンアメリカといったグローバルサウスの発展途上国の低賃金労働者に外注されています。
Moreover, this work is outsourced to low-wage workers in developing countries in the Global South, such as Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

こうした作業に従事した人々の中には、PTSD（心的外傷後ストレス障害）を発症する人も少なくありません。
Many people engaged in this work suffer from PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder).

なるほど、これは文句なしの“不都合な真実”だと思いました。
Indeed, I thought, this is undeniably an inconvenient truth.

私もかつて、人身事故（飛び込み自殺）のシミュレーションを行ったことがあります。
I myself once created a simulation of a railway suicide (a person jumping in front of a train).

そのときの精神的なつらさは、今でも忘れることができません。
The emotional toll I experienced then is something I can still vividly recall.

人の死をプログラムで再現するという作業は、数字やロジックの背後で確実に心を蝕みます。
Simulating death through programming undeniably eats away at the soul, even behind layers of numbers and logic.

こうした構造的な問題は、生成AIだけに限った話ではありません。
This kind of structural issue is not limited to generative AI.

たとえば、自己チューニング型の制御システムでは、ロボットアームなどが予期しない動作をすることは珍しくありません。
For example, in self-tuning control systems, it is not unusual for robotic arms to behave in unexpected ways.

私は、そのような“設計者の想定を超える挙動”を何度も見てきて、正直うんざりしています。
I have seen such designer-unintended behaviors so often that I’ve grown weary of them.

また、生成AIが登場する少し前には、自動応答型のchatbotが人種差別や暴力を肯定する発言をして大炎上する事件もありました。
Even before generative AI gained traction, chatbot incidents involving racist or violence-glorifying messages caused significant controversies.

たとえば、Microsoftの「Tay」がたった一日で“闇落ち”した事件は記憶に新しいです。
For example, Microsoft’s “Tay” notoriously turned rogue in just one day.

こうした逸脱を防ぐために、AIの学習に「Reward Model（RM）」という仕組みが導入されました。
The Reward Model (RM) was introduced into AI training to prevent such deviations.

私もこのコラムで、RMが人間の価値観をAIに教える手段として注目されていることを書いた記憶があります。
I also wrote in this column about how RM is being used to instill human values into AI.

きれいごとは言いません。
I won’t sugarcoat it.

AI技術が多くの人の心を病ませていることを知りながら、私は明日もその技術に手を染めるのです。
Even knowing that AI is harming people’s mental health, I will continue working on it tomorrow.

それは、未来のためではありません。
Not for the future.

今日を食いつなぐためです。
But to get through today.

私は、その搾取の当事者です。
I am undeniably a participant in that structure of exploitation.

私はせっかちなので、何かを始めなければならない時に、「待つ」というのがとても苦手です。
I’m naturally impatient and find it difficult to “wait” when I need to start something.

たとえば、あるサービスについて学ばなければならないとき、そのサービスの利用申請や承認を待っている時間が惜しいと感じてしまいます。
For instance, when I have to learn a new service, I find it wasteful to wait for approval or access to be granted.

そのため、まずは無料サイトで試してみて、それでも分からなければ、自腹を切ってサービスを契約してしまい、実際に使ってみる――というのが私のやり方です。
So I often start by trying a free version of the service, and if that doesn’t work, I pay out of pocket to use it directly.

これは「意欲」や「やる気」というより、「不安」が原因です。
This isn’t driven by “motivation” or “ambition”—it’s more about anxiety.

分からないままでいる状態が、とにかく不安なんです。
I feel uneasy when I don’t understand something.

だからこそ、早くその不安から解放されたくて、自腹を切ってしまうのです。
So I spend my money to relieve that unease as quickly as possible.

もっとも、あとになって振り返ると「そこまで急ぐ必要はなかったな」と思うことがほとんどですが、まあ、こればかりは“性分”ですね。
Looking back, I often realize it wasn’t worth rushing—but that’s just my nature.

さて、話を戻しましょう。
Now, back to the point.

個人（大学）研究で使う ChatGPT、DeepL、AWSの利用費はすべて自腹。最近では OpenAI API にも課金しています。
I pay personally for my research (at university) for ChatGPT, DeepL, and AWS. Recently, I’ve even started paying for the OpenAI API.

私は、組織の使用制限や使用ルールを気にしながらサービスを使うのが面倒なんです。
It’s just too much of a hassle to worry about usage restrictions imposed by the organization.

こうして私は、ITガジェットとITサービスに搾取され続けているのです。
And so, I continue to be thoroughly exploited by IT gadgets and services.

では、その搾取されるコストは、どこから出ているのか？
So, where does the money for this exploitation come from?

IT研究の給料と、申告不要となる範囲の原稿料（※ここ3年ほどはご無沙汰ですが）でなんとか賄っています。
I cover the costs with my IT research salary and article fees that fall within the non-taxable range (though I’ve been out of the writing game for the past three years).

業務で稼いだお金を、次の業務のため（あるいは不安解消のため）に投資する。
Earning money through work, only to reinvest it in preparation for the next job, or to relieve anxiety.

こういうキャッシュフロー、なんというんでしょうか？
What do you call this kind of cash flow?

ああ、たしか「内部留保」ですね。
Ah, yes, I suppose it’s called “retained earnings.”

ところで、先日、所属ユニットで「趣味を紹介する」というプレゼンの機会がありました。
The other day, I had a chance to give a presentation about my hobbies in the research unit I belong to.

正直、大いに困りました。

ITガジェットやITサービスの利用は、どう考えても“業務”寄りですし、

ブログやコラムの執筆も、“趣味”として説明するにはなんだか難しい。

――その現実に、しばらく呆然としてしまいました。
That realization left me stunned for a while.

こんなに手間がかかっているものを、あの値段で買えることに、私は心から感謝しています。
I'm genuinely grateful to buy such labor-intensive foods at affordable prices.

こういう話は、これまでも何度も書いてきました。

私は、神様には特に感謝していませんが、こうした製品や商品をつくり、運び、棚に並べてくれる人たちには本当に感謝しています。
I don’t particularly thank God, but I’m deeply grateful to those who make, transport, and stock these products.

同じように、コンピュータの処理性能を少しでも上げようと努力している技術者の方々や、複雑な概念を簡潔に記述できるようにプログラミング言語を設計している人たちにも、私は深く敬意を抱いています。
Likewise, I deeply respect engineers who improve computing power and design programming languages to express complex ideas concisely.

要するに、神様がいなくても、私たちはちゃんとやってきたし、これからもやっていけるんじゃないかと思ってるんです。
In short, I believe we've done fine without God and’ll continue to do so.

正直、いるかどうかも分からない神様より、CookDoがこの世に生まれてくれたことの方が、私にとってはずっとありがたい。
Honestly, I’m more thankful for the existence of CookDo than for a God whose existence is uncertain.

上水道、下水道、電気、ガス、インターネット――これらのインフラを整備し、メンテナンスし続けている人々の貢献は、どう考えても神様以上です。
The contributions of those who build and maintain water, electricity, gas, and internet infrastructure surely surpass those of any deity.

――とはいえ、私もときどき「神様、助けてください」と思う瞬間はあります。
There are moments when even I think, “God, please help me.”

でも、それってたぶん「信仰」じゃなくて、「困った時のツール」として神様を使っているだけなんですよね。
But that’s probably not faith -- just using God as a tool in times of trouble.

つまり、「神様を信じる」のではなく、「神様を使う」という態度です。
In other words, it’s not about believing in God, but using God.

これって意外と新しい考え方なんじゃないかと思って調べてみたら……
I thought this might be a novel idea, so I looked into it…

いやぁ、笑いました。学術的にもすでにたくさん議論されてました。
And I had to laugh -- it’s already been thoroughly discussed in academia.

神の実在よりも、「信じることが人生にとって役立つかどうか」を重視する立場。

An approach emphasizing religion’s social and psychological functions.

* 世俗的スピリチュアリティ（Secular Spirituality）

超自然を前提とせず、儀式や言葉を「心の整理」のツールとして扱う態度。
A perspective that uses rituals or language for mental clarity without relying on the supernatural.

などなど。どれも「神様＝道具」という考え方に親和性があります。
They all align with the idea of “God as a tool.”

もちろん、宗教を大切にしている人の気持ちは理解しています。
Of course, I understand the importance religion holds for many.

でも、それを自分の人生の軸に据えるというのは、少なくとも私には少し違和感がある。
But centering my life around it feels off to me.

だから私は――

神様を信じなくてもやっていける。
I can get by without believing in God.

でも、麺つゆがなかったら、ちょっと明日を乗り越える自信はないです。
But without mentsuyu, I’m not sure I could make it through tomorrow.

ですから、「ポテトサラダ」や「冷凍餃子」を使うことを「手抜き」であると批難した人は、まず私のところに来て下さい。
