私、この手の研修は苦手なのですが、珍しく「面白い」と感じてしまいました。――なるほど、こうやって、若者を勧誘するわけね
年末に録画していたNHKの番組を消化しています。今回は、「アナザーストーリーズ 運命の分岐点『豊田商事事件 時代が生んだ悲劇』」です。
I am catching up on NHK programs that I recorded at the end of the year. This time, it is "Another Stories: Turning Points of Fate, The Toyota Shoji Incident, a Tragedy Born of Its Time."

豊田商事事件とは、1980年代に発生した大規模詐欺事件です。
The Toyota Shoji incident was a large-scale fraud case that occurred in the 1980s.
この事件では、販売商品として「金」が用いられていましたが、実際には金の現物が顧客の管理下に置かれることはなく、保管や売却の実態も不透明でした。
In this case, "gold" was used as the product being sold, but in reality, the physical gold was never placed under the customers’ control, and the details of storage and resale were opaque.
価格算定や換金条件は事業者側に一方的に委ねられ、「安全な資産運用」という説明とは裏腹に、顧客が自由に価値を確認・回収できない構造そのものが詐欺でした。
Price calculations and redemption conditions were unilaterally controlled by the company, and contrary to the explanation of "safe asset management," the very structure that prevented customers from freely verifying or recovering value was the fraud itself.
――「金」という実体があるように見えて、実際にはそれを裏付けるものはほとんど存在せず、顧客の手元には「紙(購入証明書・契約書)」だけが残る
Although it appeared that there was a tangible asset called "gold," in reality, there was almost nothing to substantiate it, and all that remained in the customers’ hands was "paper (purchase certificates and contracts),"
という詐欺です。
This was the nature of the fraud.
（こうした豊田商事事件を見てきて、私がビットコインなどの暗号通貨を懐疑的に見る、という思考の癖ができあがったとも言えます）
(Having seen incidents like the Toyota Shoji case, one could say that this is how my habit of viewing cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin with skepticism was formed.)
もう一つのポイントは、「誠実さ」や「将来の安心」を巧みに演出した営業話法によって、多くの高齢者が被害に遭った事件であるという点です。
Another key point is that many elderly people fell victim to this incident through sales techniques that skillfully staged "sincerity" and "future security."
商品そのもの以上に、「信頼させる技術」や「心理的距離を詰める訓練」が体系化され、組織的に用いられていたことが、後に明らかになりました。
It later became clear that more than the product itself, "techniques for building trust" and "training to close psychological distance" had been systematized and used organizationally.
ちょうど今、この番組で「セールスマンの研修の記録ビデオ」が再現されているところなのですが、それを見ていて『最近のできごと』を思い出しました。
At this very moment, the program is reenacting a "recorded video of salesperson training," and as I watched it, I almost found myself recalling "something that happened recently."

今、私は、勤務先でリクルーターとしての任務を与えられており、現時点で、総計10時間弱のリクルーター研修を受講中です。
At present, I have been assigned the role of a recruiter at my workplace, and so far, I have completed just under ten hours of recruiter training.
この研修はよくできていて、ロールプレイングなども行われます。小グループで「リクルーター」「学生」「評価者」の役割を入れ替えながら、3回このロールプレイングを繰り返すという徹底ぶりです。
The training is well-designed and includes role-playing exercises. In small groups, participants rotate through the roles of "recruiter," "student," and "evaluator," repeating the role-play three times in a very thorough manner.
この研修では、コンプライアンスに違反する行為や、学生からの質問対応だけでなく、表情や表現、禁止ワード、沈黙の使い方、質問の投げ方、相手との心理的距離の詰め方についても、かなり詳しく教育されます。
In this training, in addition to handling actions that violate compliance and responding to students’ questions, we are also taught in considerable detail about facial expressions, phrasing, prohibited words, using silence, posing questions, and closing psychological distance with the other person.
私、この手の研修は苦手なのですが、珍しく「面白い」と感じてしまいました。
I am not very good at this kind of training, but I found myself thinking, unusually, that it was "interesting."
――なるほど、こうやって、若者を勧誘するわけね
So this is how young people are recruited.
と、目から鱗が落ちるような納得感を得ています。
I am gaining a sense of understanding that feels like scales falling from my eyes.

私は、10年以上前から外部メディアにコラム寄稿を行っていますが、その際、あらかじめ会社の総務部と一つの取り決めをしています。

「うちの会社の不利益になる情報や見解を出さない限りにおいて、江端は自由に執筆してよい」

That is the agreement.
私は、この一点において、これまで一度も約束を破ったことはない、と自負しております。
I take pride in the fact that, on this point, I have never once broken that promise.
