私の頭は、「本を読みながら手を動かすことで、要点を整理する」ようになっていますし、「ボロボロにするまで、何度も読み熟すことで、知識が定着する」ようになっています。

My brain is probably used to understanding the book summary by working my hands or fingers or shading the book by reading over and again to solidify my knowledge.

図書館で借りてきた本では、そのようなことが行えないのです(当たり前だ)。

The above acts are strictly prohibited for any book in the library(It's natural)

という訳で、最近の私の本の購入ステップは、以下のようになっています。

So, now, the steps of my book purchase are as follows.

(Step 2)本に書き込みたいくらいに、その本が気に入る

(Step 2)The book sits in my mind. I want to get the urge to write my comments down,

まあ、これで、書籍代金を1/10くらいにはできていると思います。

- is impossible to purchase from the Amazon site,

■図書館の書架にも出ておらず(1970年くらいに発行された本)、

- is not opened on the book rack in the library (published in the 1970s),

■司書さんに倉庫から出して貰う必要のある

- is needed to ask the librarian to pick up from the storage of the library,

そういう本を読んでいるのですが、これが、本当に良い本だったりするんです

and it is a great book.

―― で、まあ、なんというか「困っている」のです。

So, let me say I am in trouble now.

私一人の為に、その本を1冊だけ再版して貰うことは、絶望的に難しい(というか無理にきまっている)と思いますしね。

I am afraid that it is desperately difficult to republish the only one book for me( Absolutely impossible)

私は、電源や光源や落下や水没の心配をしなくて良く、書き込みが可能な、紙の本が好きです。

I like a writable paper book that does not need power or light, falling or submersion under water.

電子ブックの方がコストパフォーマンスが良いのは判っていますが、「1冊再版」というビジネスが本格的に始まってくれたら、本当に嬉しいと思っています。

I know that e-books suit every aspect: cost, usability, etc. However, the new business, "only one book published," will make me happy.

以前、蒙古タンメン中本に、中国人一家、4人くらいが、来店していまして、店の中がちょっと騒然としていました。

Previously, a Chinese family visitors came to the ramen shop "Mouko-tanmen Nakamoto", and the shop became a little turbulent.

基本的には、「オーダーが取れない」とか「注文なしでカウンターに座ろうとしていた(家族とラーメンをシャアしようとしていたと思う)」ようで、店員さんが困っていました。

Basically, there seemed to be "communication problem" and "getting a seat without order". A sales-clerk of the shop seemed to be at a loss.

もちろん、私も中国語は全くだめです。

Of course I cannot speak Chinese at all.

そこで、ダメもとで英語で話しかけてみたところ、中学生くらいの少年が答えてきました。

I thought that there was nothing to lose, I talked to them in English. So the boy who looked like a high student, answered.

以前、中国の子ども達の英語力というか・・・「英語を使うことに躊躇がないマインド」に感動した、という話を書きました(英語力は、日本の子どもたちにも十分あります)。

Before, I wrote about the high English proficiency of Chinese boys and girls, and this time I also impressed with "the mind that it does not have a hesitation to speak English". (Japanese children also have the proficiency, however, they don't notice that)

今回もそれを思い知りました

This weekend, I watched animations whose title "His and her situation"

私が物心ついてから、今に至るまで、「恋愛」や「結婚」が、価値観の最高位に君臨し続けていることは、しみじみと凄いことだなぁ、と、変な感想を持ちました。

I have a funny impression that it is great that "love affair" and "marriage" have been the top of hierarchy of our values in my life.

しかし、昔は、このような「恋愛」や「結婚」の勝者に対して、少くとも、それに対抗する言葉やフレーズはなかった。

But few word and phrase from the losers has appeared against the winners of "love affair" and "marriage".

―― 敗者は黙りこくり、勝者はそれを斟酌する

"The loser becomes silent, and the winner considers the situation".

かつて、そういう取り決めは、あったように思う。

I think that the above rules has existed before.

敗者が語り始める ―― そのこと自体は良いことだと思うのですが、

"The loser starts to claim something" is good for our society, however,

そうなると、遠慮なく勝者も語り始める、と思うのです。

"The winner also start to speak to the loser at ease.

の対義語(対義フレーズ)って、

I come to think the opposite phrase of the above must be

「負け犬、黙っていろ」

■まず「長い」というスピーチは最悪です。

First of all, "long speech" is the worst.

そもそも、芸人でもない私達一般人の話術が楽しかろう訳がない。

First, we are not professional performers, so our verbal skills will never be splendid.

その程度の自己評価もできていない人間が、さらに長いスピーチをしたら、そこにあるのは「苦痛」という名の「地獄」です。

Even the person who cannot evaluate oneself, try a long speech, it is going "hell" that is called "pain".

■次に「ローカルネタだけ」というスピーチも最悪です。

Secondly, "local talk" is also the worst.

ローカルネタは、それを出席者全体が共有できるレベルにまで引っ張り込める技量を持っていることがが前提で、そんな技量を持っている人は、恐しく少ないです。

To speak the "local talk," a speaker should have a unique technique to spread the talk to other attendees to share the joy. However, few people have the technique.

■「格言や名言の引用」というスピーチも最悪です。

Finally, "apothegmatize" is the worst.

『なんで、披露宴まできて、お前に説教されなきゃならん』と本気で腹が立ってきます。だいたい、赤の他人からそんなもの聞かされて楽しいと思うか。馬鹿野郎めが。

I become to burn the anger with thinking "Why I have to hear your useless sermon this private party?" "Above all, If you were me, do you think your sermon is "God-given ?" Don't be silly.

そもそもスピーチの内容を真面目に聞いている人間など、全体の10%程度で、その内容を覚えているのは10%を切ります(実際は、もっと少ないだろうと思う)。

First, about 10% of a party hears a speech seriously, and less than 10% of the persons will forget the contents of the speech. ( I think it might be smaller.)

とすると、「楽しい」スピーチの発生率は多く見積っても1%未満であり、あとの99%以上は「苦痛だけ」のスピーチである、という解釈も可能です。

This estimation shows that the possibility of "amusing speech" is less than 1%, and the remaining more than 99% is "painful speech".

下手くそなスピーチに共通することは、

I think all of these miserable speakers are missing the following.

『私の言葉など、1mmたりとも人の心に届かない』

"My words never arrive, all right."

という客観性を、徹頭徹尾、欠いていることですね。

They lose the objectivity from start to finish.

客層を意識していない、空腹でイライラしている、などの配慮がないことも勿論、話題が脈絡なく続くスピーチが、論理性を欠き、出席者をどんどん不快にさせていくことに気がついていない。

They ignore the layers of guest and the unpleasure of hunger, and the topics of their speech are not consistent, concise, and logical. They never understand that they are annoying attendees.

―― 会社で偉い立場の人間だか何だか知らんが、その程度のプレゼンスキルで、その地位にいられるものだ

"I don't know your job title, though. I cannot understand your title because of your terrible speech."

と、ついには、その人の「下手くそなスピーチ」が、新郎や新婦の属する評価まで下げてしまいます(私の中では)。

In my mind, the terrible speech is a downgrading assessment of the bridal couple, at last.

これは、結婚披露宴の趣旨を、著しく損うことになっていないでしょうか。

This is a sort of destroyer of bridal ceremony.

私は、「友人至上主義」と「ぼっち至上主義」の比率を50:50くらいで位置付けておくのが良いと思います。

暴力といえば、「数字」も「データ」も結構な暴力でしょう。

私、「数字」と「データ」を使った連載を続けておりますが、今のところ、この連載のコラムに対して、正面から疑義を唱えてきた人は、片手にも満たないです。

Now, I was given works of serialized columns, and only a few people have taken objection to the contents until now.

そのような人でも、きちんと筋道を立ててお話すれば、納得して頂けます。

The person also can understand my thoughts logically.

もちろん、私が間違っていることもあり、意見を修正することもあります。

Of course, I sometimes make mistakes and modify my opinions.

しかし、疑義を唱えてこられるようなケースは絶無というほど少ないです。

However, the cases have been rare despairingly.

「数字」と「データ」は、理解が難しい上に、反論がしにくい。

夏になれば、仕方がないことですが、―― 男性の体臭が凄い。

It cannot be helped that the body odor (BO) of men becomes terrible.

私は都心部の逆方向の電車に乗っているので、混雑はあまり酷くはないので、それほど酷い目にもあっていないと思うのですが、

I ride on a crowded train in the opposite direction of the city center daily, so I don't think I feel so hard.

ラッシュの電車で、体臭の凄い人の近くになった人の悲劇は、想像に難くありません。

But I am very sorry for the person who cannot escape from the tragedy in a packed train and is close to the terrible BO.

被害者サイドとしては勿論ですが、私のような「加齢臭」持ちは、加害者サイドとしても、夏はツラい。

Summer is a hard season for me because I am not only a victim but also a victimizer with age smell.

歩行喫煙なんぞやる奴は、殴ってもいいと思うけど、体臭は不可抗力ですから。

Though I can give a walking smoker a blow, I think that the BO is an inevitable force.

(万一、悪意で体臭発生している奴がいたら(いないと思うけど)、首を締めてもいいと思う)

Even if I find a person who make his BO on purpose (I don't know whether it is possible) I think I may tighten his neck.

もうこれ以上はダメだ ―― と、先日会社の診療所にいったら、サクッと、この「セルシン」を処方して貰えました。

After I thought I could do nothing, I went to a clinic of my company, and the doctor prescribed the drug "Cercine" for me.

これが、凄くてですね、朝方、セルシンを一錠飲み込んで、布団の上に倒れこんでいるいると、ホワイトボードが頭の中から消えていくんです。

This drug is more significant than I expected. After taking an ace, the whiteboard disappears in my head, lying asleep.

ホワイトボードがなくなって、ホッとしているところで、目覚まし時計のアラームに起こされる、ということができます。

After I feel relieved to confirm the whiteboard is leaving, I can wake up by an alarm clock.

十分な睡眠ではないかもしれませんが、鉛のような体を引きづって歩いていた日々を考えると、

According to the day, I have to move my body such as lead, even if the sleep might not be enough for me,

有名なところでは、小惑星探査機「はやぶさ」を模した擬人化イラストやマンガ。

As a famous personification, the illustration or comic of the asteroid spacecraft "Hayabusa."

商品パッケージにも、いわゆる「萌え絵」といわれるものが積極的に採用されていますし、「日本鬼子」(日本人に対する蔑称)を、可愛い女性のイラストに可換したものまであります。

Regarding the product package, "Moe-e," which is pictures of cute, young female characters, becomes to be used positively; the word "Nihon-Oniko"(disparaging terms for Japanese) becomes to be cute girls.

以前の私であれば、これらのイラストを忌避していたかもしれません。

I might be away from these illustrations before.

それに、全ての人の心に、このようなイラストがヒットするという訳でもないと思います。

I don't think that these illustrations hit the hearts of all people.

しかし、それらのパッケージのイラストによって、売上が伸びている事実は、否定しようがありません。

But we don't deny the fact that the sales come to increase by these illustrations.

「萌え絵」そのものではなく、そのようなイラストを使ってまでも商品コンセプトを伝えたいという『気合い』が、高く評価されているのだろうと思うのです。

I think the spirit of hope to bring the product concept to consumers through the illustrations has been valued, not "Moe-e" itself.

それに ――

And, I also believe that

消費電力や制御システムのコンセプトビークルとして、「メイドとご主人様」を使っている技術コラムは、使っていないコラムよりは、ずっと読みやすい

The technical columns, including "maids and master" as a vehicle concept of electric power and control system, are easier to read than not including them.

―― と信じています。

小学生の娘にゲーム理論を教える前には「マンガでわかるゲーム理論」という本を手渡しましたし、職場の自分の席から「マンガでわかる統計学」という本も見えます。

Before teaching my daughter "game theory", I gave her a book whose title was "games theory to understand by comics" and I can find a book whose title is "statistic to understand by comic".

こういう風潮に、眉をひそめる人もいるのかもしれませんが、私は、

Some people might frown at this trend. However, I think

「目的を達成する為には、どのような手段だって試みるべきだ」

"Any method is good as long as we achieve a target."

と思っていますので、工学・理学分野に、擬人化イラストを導入することを全く否みません。むしろ推奨します。

So, I don't deny using personification illustrations in science and industry fields. If anything, I recommend it.

私は、査読付き論文や、特許明細書の実施例に、「萌え絵」が掲載される日を、心から楽しみに待っているのです。

I look forward to watching "Moe-e" in reviewed papers and patent applications.
