I have finished reading "Contemporary History, I Got It!" written by Ikegami Akira-san.

この説明の巧さには、まったく舌を巻きます。

I am astonished at his understandable explanations at all times.

昨日も書きましたが、分かりやすい本は、それだけで価値があるのです。

I wrote the same thing in yesterday's diary. I think a book that is easy to read is valuable for that reason.

ただ、「分かりやすい本」というのは、多分に主観が入るので難しいです。

However, it isn't easy to judge whether the book is easy to understand because it depends on each person's thoughts.

例えば、今、次女が凄い勢いで読んでいる「物語シリーズ」を、「難しい」から読まないといっている社会人の研究員もいます。

For example, the "Monogatari series" addicts my daughter, an adult researcher, who doesn't like it because he feels "difficult."

しかし、日本人でもある私には、どうしても「塩ニスト」と見えてしまうのですよね。

However, I, also Japanese, cannot help reading "Salt-ist."

塩の英語発音「ソルト」とは「貨幣」と言う意味もあり、実際、古代では軍人の給与として取り扱われていました。

"Salt" also has a meaning of "money," and in fact, salt was used as a paycheck for soldiers in ancient times.

サラリーマンの語源は、この「ソルト」に由来するそうです。

I heard that the origin of "Salary man" was derived from the word "salt."
